Report from the beach

Happy Saturday everyone. Linda, Rocky and I are having a relaxing time at the beach and really enjoying her cousin's very nice home that is sitting high on stilts and has a view of the ocean over the dunes. Pictures will come later.

It rained most of the day yesterday and was quite windy but that didn't bother us. We went out a couple of times to eat but mostly just relaxed. Last night the winds picked up and we could feel the house moving and loose tin on the house next to us kicked up quite a racket. Then about 10 PM the wind started this howling noise coming past the side of the house where the bedroom is and it was freaking out poor little Rocky because it was really loud.

It's not howling this morning but the wind is still rocking the house and the tin noise next door is even worse. Anyone that really knows Odie knows that I do not like strong winds, especially at night when I cannot see what is happening. I will be relieved when the sun comes up and at least I can tell what is going on around me.

Last night we ate supper at O'Henrys and Linda had her fill of oysters and I had scrimp and it was excellent. What really made out time there special was our waitress. I can't pronounce her name but she is small, very pretty, is from the Ukraine and has the loveliest accent. Just meeting her and talking to her made our trip down here worthwhile. She is the kind of person that you meet and instantly think that there is no negatives about her. We just love meeting very sweet and polite people. Needless to say I made her evening with a more than proper tip.

Linda & Rocky are still snoozing and the sun hasn't made it's appearance yet so have a great weekend everyone and I'll check back later.

  1. I'm glad you encountered such a polite waitress, Odie. The people who count on tips to augment their income are the ones who are usually nice. I only wish more salaried sales clerks would be that nice just because it's the right thing to do.

As I wrote on my blog I'm sorry you're dealing with a wind swept vacation. Please consider that rain and wind (if not extreme) can be invigorating and renew your spirit. One of my fondest beach vacation memories was of a day of torrential rain. It forced me to slow down the pace of life which is often too fast even on vacation because you want to do and see so much in the brief time you have. Slowing down to a halt felt good for a change. I hope Rocky settles down and doesn't get spooked by the noises tonight. Take care, good buddy!

  2. Sometimes it's the people that make the place! She will make this little mini vacation an even more memorable time for you!

So glad you have this opportunity to go and relax again. Be kids, enjoy yourselves.

A rainy beach day sounds just about perfect to me!!

  4. I envy you a stay at the beach. I have been a beach person all my life but my hubby prefers the mts. I need a trip to the sea every once in a while to keep me going!

  5. I love wind in the daytime, but it is spooky at night! There was a hurricane in Florida at night when I was visiting my sister. I looked out my bedroom window at the trees bending and thought, "Well, I can't do anything about it," and went to bed. We had to clean up the next day, but I'm glad the house was still standing!

Nice service people make a big difference in dining out. I'm glad you are enjoying your vacation. I love the beach - cold or hot - it is so beautiful. God Bless.

  6. I know what you mean about strong wind at night. I'm the same and if there's also a loud din from the house next door, it must be making your nights very disturbed. No wonder poor Rocky is unsettled! I would be, too. Hopefully it will die down so you can have a peaceful time for the remainder of your stay. So pleased you had such an enjoyable meal last evening with friendly service. Your waitress sounded lovely.

  7. Like Desiree said, I really hope that the wind will die down so that you can enjoy the rest of your time at the beach. Really looking forward to seeing the photos. Poor little Rocky - he is probably pretty frightened by that noise I would think. It's always lovely to have a nice break away, isn't it?
