Why I Call It Home

Happy Saturday everyone. Decided I would share a few scenes I discovered on Pinterest of North Carolina. This is such a diverse state with everything from the coast to the mountains. Something for everyone.

At the top is one of the many waterfalls found in NC and being near running water like this is so calming to me. To the right of the waterfall is a couple of scenes of the fabulous Blue Ridge Parkway. Imagine living close enough to see it every day.

The second trio is the famous Cape Hateras lighthouse, water scene near Blowing Rock and of course Mount Airy with Andy getting his picture taken by his statue.

Next is a scene from Corolla on the coast where wild horses run on the beach. A mountain lake and a distant view of Cape Hateras lighthouse.

Last but not least is a vintage scene of a store and you can still find many stores that have that weathered look. Wilbur's BBQ in Goldsboro has been a favorite of many in my family for a lot of years.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures and have a wonderful weekend. It is cooler here and cloudy. I've got a rack of ribs rubbed down with a special rub and in the crock pot so that will be supper tonight. Will be starting on week 3 of my studies so that should be fun. Take care all until later.

  5. You are lucky to live in such a beautiful state - one that offers varied terrain. Florida's flat as a pancake and just as boring as one w/o syrup. Happy weekend, Odie!

  6. Beautiful countryside, Odie! Supper sounds deliciously tempting. My hubby is making a lamb stew! I am as privileged as your Linda to have a husband who is a dab-hand in the kitchen :)

I was just thinking the other day...you certainly attract a lot of Lindas into your life...apart from your sister, Linda; your wife, Linda; there's my daughter, Linda who is a recent follower of your blog and I know you've mentioned one or two other Lindas, but can't quite place them now. It just seemed somewhat noteworthy to me at the time :)

Third week of college already! Gosh, how time flies!

  8. It truly is beautiful in your corner of the world, Odie. I just know it was not our last time in the US, we will be back!
Thank you for your card, Odie, it is up on my moodboard. I am glad you like the cooking fun/ice cube holders. Did you use it yet?
The little creatures are glass markers, you can stick them to a glass so everyone know which glass is his/her.
Here's to a wonderful weekend! Say hi to Linda for me

  9. NC is a beautiful state. I was lucky to have been able to travel with Bruce to different areas within when he was still driving truck. We got to travel on some beautiful highways and in the mountains. Even got out to the Outer Banks. It's truly beautiful. Thanks for the pictures Odie. Hope all is well in your world. Those ribs sound wonderful.

  16. The trouble with living in North Carolina is that we can never all agree on where we want to visit! My husband loves the mountains and I love the outer banks. Thanks to us having different tastes, we have enjoyed experiencing many of these places you've shared here today. My life is full of adventure because I chose to stay here.
