Has been quite a while since my last post and so much has happened in this old man's life.  It does feel good to be back in Nash County again even if it is in Rocky Mount.  The house I am living in is way larger than I actually need for me and my Rocky boy but it meets our needs. 

One big change, about 4 years ago I was hired by Advantage Sales and Marketing when they took on the then 7,000 Walgreen stores and gave me 7 to look after. Just recently they lost Walgreens and now I have a month with nearly nothing to do meaning few deposits. I have a new supervisor who promises he will try to keep me busy so time will tell about all that. 

I am not a hot weather person and I will be so glad when the daily temperatures are in the 50's and 60's instead of the high 80's.  It was a rough time when as work got slow and I tried a new job at our local Harris Teeter as a bagger. Working with the other employees and customers was fun but having to get carts in from the parking lot when temps were near 100 was just not for this almost 70 year old man so that job was short lived. I learned a valuable lesson while there for sure.

One thing that I has overjoyed about at the moment is the condition of my sister Linda and her husband Dennis. They both encountered horrible medical difficulties during the past many months but are both doing awesome now thank God. 

Another of the joys of this man's old life is my step daughter Beth whose picture was on the last post I did many months ago. She is a senior at NC State University due to graduate in March and will then begin her 2 year masters program in counseling and student development. She is now an ambassador who will be interviewing and training new employees on her campus. I will be excited to follow her progress as her working life begins hopefully on a college campus helping students as they encounter challenges that she can help them through. 

I was looking at some pictures that were saved in my tablet and found this one of Rocky when he was just a little puppy being held by my wife's daughter Beth. I just had to share this one. This was back at the end of 2008.

Hello Everyone,
OMG it's been such a long time since I posted a new blog entry but seeing my friend Dianne's blog post today from the UK made me think about doing this. My Rocky boy says hi as he is around 7 now and doing just fine as long as I am close enough for him to touch me.  He is very spoiled and I keep him that way.
My daughter Rachel who has my 2 grandsons Kaden and Matthew is expecting a girl, Allison, in December. Things will be so different around her house with all the girly things that have never been here. 
I am still semi-retired but still doing my part time job doing assignments in Walgreens, Walmarts, Food Lions, etc. I enjoy the work and it helps being able to get out and see people and staying active. October will be a busy month for me with Halloween coming up and all these candy companies wanting their candy to be packed out in the big stores and I am sure I will be not liking candy so much by the end of the month.
Speaking of Halloween here at Rachel's house in Momeyer, NC her spiders have  been decorating her bushes a little early for the season.

Well it's getting late on this Sunday evening so I will close this one out and promise to be back with more very soon.

Relieved

   I was in Rocky Mount working this morning and arrived at one of my Walgreen stores and noticed this going on across the street and thought that maybe someone was losing their home.  The manager of the Walgreen store later told me that it was a controlled burn to make that old house go away and at the same time train some of the firefighters during the process. There are many abandoned houses in most towns in my area slowly showing the signs of decay and neglect. There will be one less in Rocky Mount at the end of the day today.

New Life Abounds

   I was in Rocky Mount this morning and decided to check out the City Lake Park as it was a beautiful and sunny day. I was thrilled to see multiple families of ducks with little ones trotting behind them. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
