Gosh, Odie, what an unusual post .something really different for us. I'm wondering how you came up with the idea. I loved seeing all those vintage photos, especially the ones with the children. How interesting to see how things were back then. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis is a magnificent set of pictures, Odie! Much can be learned or relearned from studying these images taken in cities, small towns and farms across the country in the early 40s. You don't see many smiles in these pictures because most of these people were the rural or urban poor and had hard lives. In addition these were the challenging WWII years. At the same time I can't imagine the people shown here doing much crying and complaining either because folks were much more stoic back then. Thanks, Odie!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures were fascinating to me. I was here and lived it. The picture of the three little girls, all three had on dresses made from the same fabric. Those were welfare dresses. You could identify who was on public assistance by their clothing. People didn't get an allowance or food stamps. They delivered boxes of groceries and clothing to your home.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are really quite amazing. Unfortunately no one but those pilots appears to be happy. Wonder why that is? :) Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing collection, a glimpse in the past
ReplyDeleteWow, Odie, those were really neat to look at, and so large and fun to look at the details. Loved that they were in color. Thanks for Sharing. The kids liked them too!
ReplyDeleteWhat AMAZING pictures! I could study them for hours. The one of the girl and the boy building the model plane is literally 5 miles from where I sit now. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteFascinating pictures! Wow!
