Port Angeles, Washington

In another life I had this ever present dream & desire to be in Port Angeles, Washington. The primary reason being to live nearer to my friend Gloria Fred in British Columbia which is just a ferry ride across the bay instead of 3,000 miles.

Of course there are other reasons to pick that location to settle down. The strongest of these is the climate which varies from the 30's in the winter to 70's in the summer. It is nestled between the mountains and the sea and only gets about 25 inches of rainfall a year. The mountains rise to 7,000 feet and are south and west of the town acting as a barrier to a lot of the rain or bad weather.

Olympic State Park is near as well as many interesting areas to investigate. I have never been there but know in my mind that I would love what it has to offer.

Segment 3 - A picture of the engaged couple

Allow me to introduce you to my long time friend Gloria Fred and her soon to be new husband Frank Pollard. I wish them happiness forever.

Update on A friend forever

I received an email from Gloria after my post yesterday and discovered some exciting news. There's going to be a wedding!! Yes, Gloria has met this wonderful man by the name of Frank Pollard who originates from Haida Gwaii. He is an artisan and works with silver & gold. He is from Skidegate and has not been back there for 30 years. They will be traveling there in May to meet his folks which should be an interesting experience for both of them. Before I forget Gloria has 4 grandchildren now and she said having grandchildren is better than "peanut butter" and for her that says a lot. You can learn more about Haida Gwaii by going here and here.

This is called the spirit of Haida Gwaii

Town limits sign of the town Frank Pollard came from.

Totem poles are everywhere there.

A very appropriate statue for this part of the world.

The fish plays such an important part of their lives so their art shows this.
