Sunday in my neck of the woods

An absolutely beautiful day in Halifax County with a sky like I love to see.

Rocky helping me check things out as he enjoys the times he gets to be outside with me.

More views of the sky to enjoy.

Melody's where I get my hair cut and she does an awesome job.

An area separating the Roanoke River

The river is quite rocky and famous for it's Rock Fish.

Some area fishermen trying their luck during the early morning hours.

Located on the river is Kapstone, the areas biggest employer, a very large paper mill.

This is the parking area for people who want to put their boats in for whatever reason.

The last 3 pictures are of the damage the tornado did a while back when it touched down here in Roanoke Rapids.

Let me show you around

Happy Friday everyone. It has been a relatively calm week but I always look forward to the weekend. Thought I would give you a better look at the area I spend most of days. The morning sky looks promising and the temperature is actually cool and pleasant this morning so the cold front has arrived and we will be getting some much needed relief from the triple digit heat. This is a view looking up the hill from the office and a little bit of Griffins Where we fuel our vehicles. Gas is back up to $3.59 this morning.

Across the street are some of our neighbors in the next 3 pictures.

Here you are seeing part of the shop area where my 5 technicians work when not out in the field on service calls.

Our conference room where we have our service meetings on monday, wednesday & fridays.

Our display room with copiers ready for someone to say "I want it".

Near the front door featuring a vintage typewriter.

Other side at front door & window to Connie Cobb's office, wife of the owner. We use her glass to display currents events of interest.

The owner, Gus Cobb's office.

The next 3 pictures are of things he has acquired over the years.

I thought his desktop picture was cute so here it is.

My Weekend

There isn't much my boss likes more than having plenty of something good to eat in the refrigerator that he can munch on all during the day so last Friday he said, why don't you fix something good this weekend and bring it Monday.

I suggested chicken salad so he agreed. After Linda & I finished at Kaden's birthday party we stopped at Sams Club for a deal on chicken breasts. This would be the largest batch I have ever made at one time since I wanted enough for work and enough for home and Linda's mama.

My 8 qt pressure cooker is such a blessing. It took 2 cookings but they were done quickly. I used bone in breasts with skin on and ended up with plenty of broth, enough to cook pasta and have more to freeze for another time. I like being frugal.

When it was all said and done I had used 2 large packages of breasts, 3 large jars of salad cube pickles, 3 regular sized wide mouth jars of Miracle Whip, 3 chopped onion, one bunch of celery chopped, a healthy squeeze of yellow mustard and finally almost a dozen boiled eggs. You should have seen my boss today. He was in food heaven.

It's really rewarding to see anyone enjoy something you worked on with love and care. Some of the guys even had chicken salad sandwiches for breakfast, maybe since the price was right.

Hope you all had a great weekend and hope this week will be filled with joy for everyone.

Who Would Have Thought??

Pinterest

A relatively short period of time ago I was introduced to the world of www.pinterest.com and my days are changed significantly. My first thought was that it was just a place that I could "pin" images that I wanted to have available to see any time I wanted. Turns out I was so wrong.

Not only can I save on display the images I desire but they are organized on boards so you can easily find them. You can have as many boards as you desire and as you see them they are not just boards to look at. You can look over other peoples boards and if you see something that interests you all you have to do click on "repin" and choose which of your boards you want it on and it will automatically be added to your board. But that is not all folks.

Say you are looking at a board and spot something you really like such as a fantastic food item and wish you had the recipe. All you have to do is click on the picture, it will get larger, click on it again and you are looking at the original source of that item in detail from the world wide web. And get this, it doesn't end there.

Maybe you are looking at a friends blog and they have this amazing picture, whether it be themselves, a vacation spot or whatever. When you set up a Pinterest account you get a "pin" and it is always available in a tool bar whenever you are on line. So you have the blog open and want to save a picture. Just click on the pin and all the pictures on that blog page appear individually. Click on the one you want and it lets you choose the board you want it on, click "Pin" and it automatically goes to your board without even being on Pinterest.com and takes you back to the blog entry. Could not be easier. There's more folks.

On my email every time someone likes something on my boards and repins an item I get an email letting me know and gives me a link to that persons boards so I can hop over there and see if anything is there that I want to see deeper or repin onto my boards. Yes, I'm hooked on Pinterest and have found many wonderful ideas, recipes, beautiful photographs, etc. Join us here.
