The Fabulous Five

Let me introduce you to a rare photo of the "fabulous five" taken this week during a family gathering. From left to right are my Aunt Doris, Aunt Eleanor, Aunt Daisy Mae, Uncle Lester and Aunt Katie. Ranging in age from the youngest Aunt Doris at 82 to Aunt Katie at 102.

They are an amazing bunch and to be around them for a few minutes is a rewarding experience listening to them recount the details of long ago with crystal clarity. These are my dad's brother and sisters and I am still learning things about my dad that I never knew. I am truly blessed.

  2. What a wonderful photograph, Odie.
Please ask them to share their secrets of longevity so you can tell us, too. They all look so spry! I'd never have guessed the youngest is in her 80s and Aunt Katie is really quite phenomenal.

Coming from such a grand line of long-lived family members, you'd better be prepared for living to well beyond a hundred yourself :)

    Big hug,
    Des xoxo

  6. These family members are a treasure, Odie! I would have a million questions, wanting to know all about their earlier lives. Sadly the young people in my own family don't have that degree of curiosity about what has gone before. Did you remember to pet Polly?

  10. hi Odie:)

your aunt Doris looks identical to one of my mother's siblings who i believe is about 90. there's five out of seven remaining. it struck me when you said the "fabulous five" because we still refer to them lovingly as the magnificent seven. that's the neat part of having eternal life. although life here on earth might be over for a couple of them, they continue to live on in eternity:)

  13. You are blessed, Odie. What a great opportunity to hear all their stories. I loved the stories my grandmother told me about growing up on a plantation in Tennessee. I loved the stories my mom and dad told me of their childhood.
