Are you looking for things to do this season??

Are you looking for neat things to do this season to spread the love and possibly compassion to people that might not be receive from others. My friend over at the mommy rambles has some really good ideas that are not only easy but so great for this time of year.
Be sure to check out the bags for the needy, snow men pops and melted snow men cookies. You will be glad you did.

  1. My wife and I served the needy at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving and we really enjoyed the experience.
Many of us have so much, that it's hard to fathom just how bad things are for some of our neighbors.

  3. I was part of an organized group that fanned out around the community to nursing homes and made surprise Christmas visits to the elderly residents. We gave them small gifts, flowers, fruit baskets and plush animals. An even more powerful experience was doing it alone without the support of any organization. I went to nursing homes unannounced and asked the charge nurse to allow me access to the sickest and most forgotten of the residents - those who had no family to visit them. I'll never forget the looks on those faces. The nursing home staff thought I was a minister and kept asking me where my church was located. Want to feel better fast next time the holiday blues strike? Try becoming somebody's hero. Show up for a stranger when they are desperately sad and lonely and spread some cheer. Random acts of kindness are what the holidays should be about, not crass commercialism.

  4. It is inspiring to read about what everyone is doing for others on Christmas. Shady - maybe you would make a good minister!

  6. That was a lovely thing you did Shady, and I can imagine the joy that you provided. It must be so awful to feel really alone and unloved.
