Happy Thursday everyone. It is a beautiful day here in NC after the torrential rain we had late yesterday. Lord knows we needed the rain but not all at the same time. Didn't know until this morning that there was severe damage in some areas with high winds and rain. So, actually we were blessed.
There appears to be a trend that has caught on in and around the area I live with people getting serious about losing weight. Linda's daughter, Beth is selling a product that you mix into a shake that replaces 2 meals a day and then you eat sensible at the other meal. Many have lost up to 30 lbs so I decided to give it a try myself. You see I am the kind of person that if I have a structured system to go by I can stay on it better than just trying to choose the right things to eat. Yesterday I started and weighed to get a starting point and it was 202 lbs so time will tell how it will be by the time I go for my next surgery on February 2nd. I hope to really surprise the doctors with a significant amount lost.
Linda is already noticing a difference in her energy level and is walking a lot more. She also showed me where she has a lot more room in her clothes and has her excited. I won't go into what brand they are using because I found that Sam's Club has a product called Naturade Total Soy that does the same thing with only a few calories over the other product and costs about $19 for 24 days. I discovered that if you add a couple of spoon fulls of butterscotch pudding mix and low fat peanut butter you end up with a shake that tastes like you are drinking a Butterfinger. I just had my third one and I can't wait for the next one they are so good.
We have scales here at my office that are actually like the ones found in doctors offices that we use for UPS so they are really accurate and yesterday I weighed to get a starting point and as I said above it was 202 and this morning before eating breakfast it read 198 which amazed me. Honestly I think this will actually work. I will keep you posted.
This is Thursday and I am thankful today for so many areas of my life. Last Saturday being with my two sisters and all 3 of my girls made me realize how blessed I am with family that loves me unconditionally. I am thankful for my health which is awesome considering I will be 65 in March. A little over a year ago I never even thought about blogging and now it is a part of my life and I am blessed with friends literally all over the world and I am so thankful for the impact they have on my life as I share with them and read their posts that move me, inspire me, make me laugh or want to cry. I consider myself a rich man today with all that God has blessed me with, not material things or piles of cash but the important blessings of friends and family.

What a lovely ending to this post Odie!
ReplyDeleteOdie - i don't always get to read the blogs i follow, but i do enjoy coming over to you!
ReplyDeleteGosh, best wishes with the new diet plan! Is the mix at Sam's Club good without the pudding and peanut butter? Or does it need that to taste good? I've thought about those diets a lot....with pumping my breastmilk, not sure it would be good for the baby. I guess I'd have to research it a little. I do plan on going back on Weight Watcher's online soon. I'll give myself the 6 week recovery first I guess from the C-section.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about blogging. If a person doesn't blog, they just don't get it.
I'm happy to call you my friend.
Odie you are right on so many levels today. I do agree it seems to be all over blogland these days every one is looking at loosing a bit of themselves. And being a blogger has enriched my life in ways I never dreamed possible. Finding yours and counting you as a dear friend is certainly right up there!
ReplyDeleteHugs~
I feel the same way about these blog friendships of ours. I can't remember what life was like before blogging and before all of these wonderful people came into the picture. You're one of them, Odie. Good luck to you and Linda with your weight loss programs. Give Rocky and Soffie all those leftover steaks! (LOL)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new diet! I'm trying to do low carb right now and it's killing me, lol! You are right about the rain we had. Last night there was a tornado spotted not far from us and it was a bit scary but thankfully it didn't hit our area, although others had quite a bit of damage. I was excited that you stopped by yesterday. I've been missing you, my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you all on this great endeavor! It's well worth all the trouble.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with what you said about the blogging world. Only those who are in it can truly "get" it. Have a wonderful Thursday, my friend!
Hi Odie. That is such a lovely photo of the two of you. Linda has such a pretty face. I wish you both lots of luck with your new weight loss programme. It's good that Linda is now walking more. I think we all agree that blogging has brought SO much into our lives, and I am so grateful to have met you my friend. The blessings of family and friends are what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteSssh! Don't tell anyone I came by tonight. Still on my self imposed blogging break, so count yourself very lucky ;). I am also trying to get to grips with losing some mass so I am very excited to hear what you and Linda are doing and I wish you both much success. Linda is looking so radiant and her news is wonderful. Please tell her I'm rooting for her all the way! This was a super post, Odie and makes me want to rush right over to give you both a hug. I absolutely agree with Thisisme. Linda is very pretty!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an excellent diet. I know there are lots of vitamins in those drinks too. Good for you guys! My life is so much happier since meeting all you wonderful people. I feel a part of something now that I never did before. God bless you and Linda.
ReplyDeletegood for you and Linda getting healthy. It's not easy! I was super grumpy today because I am cutting down on carbs. I was hungry and mad at the world. I feel better now. Eating right after eating wrong for so long can be a tough transition!
ReplyDeleteThat's great news Odie! I might have to try that, just to get me going. I was touched by the gratitude that you continually share here. It's amazing how much my life has been impacted by my blogging friends, and that includes you too!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! That's great for both of you. I'm doing a new eating plan myself & notice my energy & alertness most of all. It's very very cool. Keep up the good work - and Linda too!
