Yes, Weldon & Roanoke Rapids, NC wants everyone to know that this area is the Rockfish capital of the world. They have fiberglass fish on display all over the area. The first one was appropriately placed beside the boat access ramp near the river.
This one is huge and about the size of my car hanging at the entrance to Weldon, NC
These are mounted on one of the posts that hold up the big boy.
This flowered one is at the entrance to the local visitor's office in front of our Super Walmart
This one is located at one of the big intersections in Roanoke Rapids, NC where you go to all the drug stores, one is behind this silver rockfish. Turning left takes you to the hospital and doctors offices, right goes to downtown.
This last one with so much color is out front of the Roanoke Rapids Chamber of Commerce on the main street that runs through both towns.
Funny!
ReplyDeleteNeat way to bring attention to the town!
ReplyDeleteI was trying to picture the fish that is as big as your car! Love all the different ways of decorating the fish! I love seeing how different towns promote their assets! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the one with sunflowers and the last one with all the colors. The town's pride is certainly showing. Thanks, Odie!
ReplyDeleteI really love the last one. Very colorful and I bet it's photographed a lot. Thanks Odie, for having your daughter contact me. I really appreciated it. You're a doll! Hugs.

ReplyDeleteFish art- fabulous, I love it
ReplyDeleteSuch an interesting and unusual subject for a post! You must have spent quite some time locating all of these to photograph for us. I enjoyed learning a little about where each is to be found as well. Thank you, Odie.
ReplyDeleteWe just had fish for dinner last night and I was thinking about how much it costs to enjoy something that we used to get for free when I was a child, all because my father loved to fish. I was thinking that I need to go fishing more often. It would be neat to take a drive out your way and catch something good for dinner!
ReplyDeleteHi Odie. I'm bringing up the rear again!! That was certainly a lot of fish, and I expect they get photographed a lot. Like the others, I loved the coloured one and the sunflower one. Hope you're having a relaxing weekend my friend. Hugs.
ReplyDeletethat is a lot of fun creative fish art!!
ReplyDelete:) I painted one of them. We got the idea from other towns and cities doing the same thing to promote a bit of unity and of course to help with tourism... I think it's fun, but I'm glad to see outsiders responses too
