Just Rocky and Odie

Yes, this weekend it was just Rocky and me since Linda, her daughter Beth and a friend went to the beach to celebrate Beth's 18th birthday leaving Rocky & I to do the guy thing. It was our first time cooking in my new smoker and I am very happy with it. We had a whole chicken and some very small red potatoes cut in half & seasoned with salt, pepper, olive oil and oregano in a dish above the chicken. A couple of hours and it was all very good.

Rocky checking out an area where we burned a large pile of limb debris on saturday.

Even after all the rough weather and winds our azeleas are still going strong.

They just come back every year to bless us with color.

Roses too. All in all Rocky & I had a really great time hanging out together, napping together, pigging out together and just being guys. One more night and they will be home from the beach tomorrow. Hope all of you had as good a weekend as we did.

  1. Sounds as though you and Rocky had a great weekend...my idea of perfection! Relaxing at home, enjoying your large, lovely garden, pottering about when you felt like it, tucking into a yummy homecooked meal out on the patio :)
Your azaleas are magnificent and that's a beautiful rose! Ah, yes, I'd say it was a really good weekend! Bet Rocky is hoping for a repeat sometime...just the two of you to polish off an entire chicken!

  3. If Rocky's anything like my Toto he spent two hours circling the smoker like a vulture! I hope you fixed him a nice platter. Have a great day and week, Odie!

  4. I bet you and Rocky had a great time together, Odie! My oh my, I can see now why you told me in one of my posts that azaleas would have to be your favourite flower. Those are absolutely stunning my friend. Such a vibrant colour. That smoker sure sounds like fun! You obviously didn't go hungry whilst Linda was away. LOL! Beautiful photo of the rose as well, and your little Rocky is just SO cute!!

what would we do without our kids, eh? my wife was also out of town for four days and i hung out with the kids too. we pizza, kfc, and potted meat sandwiches over the 4 "no piles of dirty dishes" days:) we did just as we pleased and it only took one hour to straighten things up before she got home.

  16. I can smell that first photo and now my stomach is grumbling for some of smoked salmon! My Dad used to smoke fish and meats when I was a kid, and I always loved the smell of burning hickory wafting in from the back porch. - G
