Looking Back for Caterpillar

Today I was over at Caterpillar's blog Musings N'Confessions and she was asking if we stop and look back at our life would we classify it as "Survival" or "A Full Life".

Well Cat considering what has transpired during the last 63 years I think it would have to be a combination of the two.

There were times when survival was key. Times like the 13 months in Viet Nam and struggles in my first marriage that ended in 2002. But as that was not fulfilling the birth of my three girls certainly was fulfilling.

Also in my previous life all I did was work but after I met my new wife Linda I was introduced to what it is like to actually take a vacation and enjoy seeing other parts of this beautiful world.

So, Cat my friend, I was surviving but currently I am experiencing a full life with more to come. Maybe others will take this as a blog project.

  2. Odie - Like Shady, I am so pleased that you are at a good place in your life right now, Odie. I just wish that I could persuade my hubby to stop and smell the roses and have holidays. Although he will be 67 in July, he is still very much a workaholic! Perhaps he's just trying to keep away from me!! LOL! No, I don't believe that. It's just his nature.

  4. Odie - i think there are times we just have to survive - just make sure we'r breathing and upright. It's as much for sanity as anything else.
I have to admit, i was a bit like that for a long time after we were given a diagnosis for Peter. Other things were going on at the time as well - my best friend was killed in a car crash and life didn't look too great.
But i decided i could cope and exist or i could live. Chose the living bit cos the other wasn't to good!
Ok, i do have times when i just have to "survive" like when my Dad dies and i had loads of hassle. But i got thru

  8. there are times that I am barely surviving and times when life just couldn't be better so I too would say that my life has been a mixture of the two.
