Thankful Thursday- My Blog Family

It never fails, I whine a little bit and all of you just pour on the love. I really do appreciate each and every one of you in my wonderful blog family and I thank you so very much for all the great comments you have posted lately. That's the kind of stuff that keeps a guy blogging.

As a side note I just have to share about my Aunt Katie who as you may know is working on the big 103 come September. Over the last year or so she has had various problems with levels of stuff like platelets and changes in medications. She went for a checkup last week and everything is back to normal, she is eating very well, having no trouble with going to the bathroom and being very active inside and outside the house. My sister Linda took her to that appointment last week & asked her if she wanted to get something to eat before going home. She said it would be fine and when asked where she would like to go she said she didn't know and finally said that Bojangles would be alright. Now Bojangles is good fast food but Linda got the idea to take her to Red Lobster and that got her excited since she had never been. She fell in love with their cheese biscuits, ate scallops for the first time and was like a child at Christmas time which of course made my sister happier than she has been in a long time just watching her enjoy herself.

We love her more than I can say and rejoice that she is doing so well and enjoying life@ 102. So today my friends I am especially thankful for my blog family and for my wonderful Aunt Katie.

  1. Aaaw, that's lovely Odie! We are grateful to you too, believe me. Isn't that absolutely wonderful about your Aunt Katie?! To be experiencing new things at 102, by going to The Red Lobster and eating scallops for the first time. That is quite some amazing lady, and I wish her well.

  2. You're never too old to stop learning and experiencing new things. I'm glad Katie is still so active and connected to the world. I truly believe it's the key to longevity. Have a great Thursday, Odie, and I hope you stay safe from those storms!

  3. Wow! Aunt Katie sounds absolutely amazing! She is so lucky to be in such good health and still to have all her faculties. How super that she was able to enjoy and appreciate such a fun, new experience. She certainly seems to be a most inspiring person and a lot of elderly folk could learn from her positive and happy out look on life. You're lucky, indeed, to have her in your life, Odie! My FIL is 94 (a way off Aunt Katie), but he's also quite remarkable...he brailles for the blind every day, still does his own washing and ironing, walks to the shop most days, writes a daily email to send to the family all around the world, plays scrabble daily etc. He needs to use a walker now, though, as he had a fall a while back and cracked his pelvis. Two years ago, he recovered fully after had a very successful hip replacement. He continues to amaze us daily. He is an avid sports watcher (cricket and rugby are his passions) and so we provide him with satellite TV so he can watch all the international games.

  5. I'm glad you made it through the storms last night and hope you stay safe today. Today's post is so sweet and uplifting. Here I was, whining about 40, now I feel like a baby compared to aunt Katie. I'm going to remember to try new things all through my life and live by her example.
